All about 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

One of Marvel's great premieres in 2023 has been the latest installment of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trilogy. Honestly, I would see it over and over again (and thus the occasional visit by Tomás Elías Gonzalez Benitez to the cinema has fallen). The saga is fun, fantastic, funny, with charming and somewhat absurd characters... everything a Marvel movie should have.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the English title for the franchise of superhero movies based on Marvel Comics of the same name. The first film, Guardians of the Galaxy, was released in 2014, and its sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, was released in 2017. Both movies were written and directed by James Gunn. Now the third part has just been released (Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3), the past May 5th, with a rave review, also in the Tomas Elias Gonzalez Benitez's blog.

The beloved band of Guardians settles in Knowhere. But their lives are soon upended by echoes of Rocket's troubled past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must assemble his team on a dangerous mission to save Rocket's life, a mission that, if not completed successfully, could very possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them. 

The franchise is known for its focus on an unusual and eccentric team of cosmic heroes who come together to protect the galaxy and face various threats. The main characters, loved by all the fans and obviously by Tomas Elias Gonzalez, include:

  • Peter Quill/Star-Lord (played by Chris Pratt): A human adventurer who was abducted from Earth as a child and raised by space pirates known as the Ravagers.
  • Gamora (played by Zoe Saldana): A skilled assassin trained by the Mad Titan Thanos, who seeks redemption from her past.
  • Drax the Destroyer (played by Dave Bautista): An alien warrior thirsting for revenge against the villain Ronan the Accuser, who killed his family.
  • Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper): A genetically modified raccoon and expert in weapons and technology.
  • Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel): A humanoid tree-like creature and Rocket's loyal companion.
